Brief History of CAFP:

CAFP was first chartered in 1982. David O'Brien was the champion for initiating this chapter. David along with four others, Larry Wilson, George Fox, Wayne Ball, and Al Mottesheard spearheaded the development of what was originally called the Commonwealth Cash Management Assocation (CCMA). The CCMA was one of the 13 or so original associations that were on the board of the National Corporate Cash Management Association (NCCMA). David O'Brien went on to serve on the NCCMA Board of Directors from 1986 to 1989 and served and the President of NCCMA in 1988. Today David works for EDS in charge of Global Cash Management in Texas and is still actively involved with AFP.

In May of 1990 in keeping with the name change at the national level to the Treasury Management Association (TMA), the Commonwealth chapter changed its name to CTMA, and again in 2000 when TMA changed its name to the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP), we again changed our name to CAFP. Originally, the charter did not allow financial institutions to be direct members, but the charter was changed in 1990 to allow their membership.
